Bases runners undertake Cyprus 4-Day Challenge

The gruelling Cyprus International Four-Day Challenge came to a conclusion on November 28 after runners from the Bases community lined up alongside an international contingent to cover a distance slightly longer than a marathon.

The event included road, trail and cross-country running and concluded with a 10 kilometre run, starting and ending in Paphos Harbour.

The Four-Day Challenge saw many military representatives take part, including the Army Running Team, who did particularly well.

Representing the British Forces Cyprus Headquarters were Lieutenant Colonel James Humphreys and James Hancocks, as well as Becky Maddock from the Episkopi Running Club, members of RAF Akrotiri K1 Triathlon Club and rcompetitors from both the 2nd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment and the 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment.

For those interested, the Episkopi Running Club are hosting a Santa Fun Run on Saturday December 4 at 8.30am, which will include a 1.5km run for children. and a. 5km run for adults. All children participating will get a present and meet Santa.
